Color Lover: KELLY GREEN

There are certain colors that in general, I've never really liked. Purple being one, not plum or periwinkle, but bright K-State Purple. I just can't envision how that could look good in a room (let alone on cabinets, that's going to be a tough one!) But we'll cover purple another day. Today I'm thinking Kelly Green, like the color of a Green Crayola Crayon. I'm not sure what the difference between Grass Green and Kelly Green is, but Kelly Green seems to have a preppy connotation to me. I never been drawn toward adding Kelly Green to my home, but I'm now having a change of heart.  I love how I can expect the ugliest of colors, or color combinations to somehow be seen in a beautiful light when done right. I think I'm seeing Kelly Green most often with brown and white or black and white. And it works. Preppy isn't quite my aesthetic, but I don't think I'd call any of these Kelly Green spaces preppy. Just cool.

Rainbow Kitchen: GREEN

I'm going easy on myself on the Rainbow Kitchen Challenge this time around. Green feels festive and Christymas-ish for this time of year, but really appropriate any time of year. I like green kitchen cabinets-- especially an olive-ish/grey color that has a neutral feel. I would consider doing them in my house if they looked anything like these. I think they actually have a neutral feeling.

I could totally live with this kitchen.

I admit it, I could not do this in my own house, it would make me claustrophobic. 
But it certainly is cool. 

Freedom Kantha Quilts: Saribari

A reader told me about these Kantha Quilts from Saribari and I can't stop thinking about them. They are special because not only are they hand stitched from 5 layers of recycled saris, but they are also made by Indian women who have come to Saribari as a refuge from the sex trade industry. And I have to say, I've posted on Kantha Quilts before and I'm always on the look out for great ones, and these are gorgeous, and well priced. On top that, the sari quilt that you pick out comes with a story about the woman whose freedom you helped support. These are one of kind in many ways!
