Fabric Faves: Caitlin Wilson Textiles

It's been a while since I've posted a Fabric Fave. Probably because it's a reminder that I have a collection of fabric designs sitting in a file on my computer, but have been too scatter-brained to pull it together and actually make a decision. When the options are endless, how do you decide on color combinations? Coral and Navy? Teal and Crimson? Turquoise and Tangerine?

Well-- I'm glad someone can make a decision and do it well: Caitlin Wilson's designs and colors are divine. Beautifully classic with a bit of a modern girly touch. SO pretty.

Coral and Lilac...what a great combination!

This is Caitlin's LINEN CORAL sofa-- oh LA LA, this is so fun!
Get a look at this, the gold is METALLIC! Love the glimmer!
All Photos are from Caitlin's Blog, but make sure to visit her website, her portfolio is inspirational, and the shop is full of more delights!

TOOT! TOOT!

I don't really like to toot my own horn, but I guess when you go into business for yourself, if you don't toot your own horn, then who will? So, here's a little Happy Habitat TOOT TOOT for you. Last fall I was contacted by Brooke over at Kansas City Home & Garden about being their first feature for 2012 as a Kansas City local artisan. I gave them a little interview and they said they wanted to get some shots of me in my studio. I told them that I mostly work on the computer, and that my "studio" wasn't very pretty, but I'd make do. And make do I did. My office is the catch-all of our little house, and certainly wasn't fit for being photographed! Well, I cleaned myself and my office up, and here's what they came up with...

Thank you to Brooke and everyone at Kansas City Home & Garden Magazine
for  featuring me as your first local artisan!

Good bye Christmas HELLO VALENTINES!

I literally just took down my Christmas Tree. Really, today. And I haven't even taken down all the decorations, but the Tree is officially down, and that's a start.  I don't like decorating for Christmas because I don't like taking it down. I know... I'm a scrooge like that. This year my mom came over and forced me to get decorations up, well, she did most of it for me, otherwise, might not have happened. So it's slowly coming down. But I am a bit motivated because I do LOVE Valentine's Day. What's a better reason to celebrate than LOVE LOVE LOVE? It's just a feel-good time for me, especially in the middle of cold winter to have a warm reason to celebrate.

So I've got Valentine's on the mind, and instead of spending time taking down the rest of my Winter Decor, I thought I'd cruise Pinterest and see what's new this year. Here's a few V-Day Delights for you.

Wrapping up Joss & Main

WOW-- what an adventure my sale at Joss & Main has been! I felt some serious love from all over the States! I've officially finished submitting orders as of about 2 minutes ago. The success of the sale went WAY beyond my expectations. The Joss & Main team has been so wonderful to work with-- such kind, attentive peeps over there. Brianne-- thanks for hanging in there with me! Deliveries are about 3/4 done, and the other quarter are on being made and should be out the door by the end of the week hopefully.

Not sure if you noticed-- but Joss & Main unveiled a new Happy Habitat phone case pattern- Granada.  Granada is a typical pattern found in tiles of southern Spain-- hence the name Granada-- by far one of my favorite places in the world.

I'm loving the Granada pattern and want to put it everywhere! Even made some fabric using a more complex version of it. More on that later. In the meantime-- check this out, I can't get it off my mind. It's a sideways stencil version done in metallic gold and white.

Are you a member?

I'm a big shopper on the internet, and I guess I just assume everyone else is too. But I'm surprised to learn that there's a whole group of people that don't shop online. One of the newest shopping sensations are Flash Sale Sites. I couldn't believe that most of my friends had not heard of these. I subscribe to many, mostly because I get exposure to great brands and artists that I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. Consistently one of my favorites is Joss and Main, and Happy Habitat is fortunate to be having a Phone Case sale with them starting on Friday! Here is your invitation to shop with Joss & Main, but don't wait til Friday to shop. Karma Living is one of my favorite brands and they have some great items on sale right now. Plus, can't wait to see the deals on Thom Filicia's Eco Rugs!

 I'm still loving Suzani!

All from Karma Living, found at Joss & Main.
This is a scarf, but at 6 feet long, it could be a blanket! Beautiful!

Color Lover: Tangerine Tango

This year's Pantone Color of the Year is PERFECTION. Orange has always been my fave. It's bright, vibrant, happy, and I think it's a little unexpected. I think Pantone nailed it this year. (Unlike last year, where I had to declare that Honeysuckle was yellow and not pink). This bright reddish orange was the inspiration for designing Happy Habitat Eco Throws. I was on the hunt for an Orange Moroccan Fretwork patterned cotton throw (those should be everywhere, right!?). When I couldn't find one, I designed one, and now sell them in my shop! So I suppose I should change the color from Paprika to Tangerine Tango, huh?!
